01Planning a Dharmapuri to Chennai road trip
The NH44 and NH48 corridor via Krishnagiri and Vellore runs roughly 300 km and takes five to six hours in normal traffic. Leave before 06:00 to clear Chennai's outer ring before the office peak, and plan a single halt at Vaniyambadi or Ranipet rather than several short stops.
02Timing an airport transfer correctly
For domestic departures from Chennai or Bengaluru, allow the mapped travel time plus 90 minutes of buffer, and add a further hour for weekday evening departures. For Bengaluru airport from Dharmapuri, the Hosur–NICE corridor is usually faster than the city route despite the extra distance.

Tiruvannamalai pairs naturally with Kanchipuram; Madurai with Rameswaram and Thanjavur; and the Navagraha circuit is best done over three days from Kumbakonam. Darshan queues are shortest in the early morning, so plan overnight halts near the temple town rather than driving in at dawn.

A one-way fare covers the vehicle's return journey, which is why toll estimates include the return leg. Booking a round trip is usually materially cheaper per kilometre than two separate one-way journeys.
